“After 32 years as a middle school teacher, I looked forward to a simple retirement. All was well until my daughter-in-law passed away from COVID-19, leaving three children who needed my help. My savings and income were enough for a single person, but not a funeral and my grandkids’ needs. My bills piled up and I couldn’t afford my apartment, let alone a home with my grandkids. I remember sitting on my patio, tears streaming down my face and feeling helpless.

When I came to Stephen Center, I found help. Not only did they provide me with a bed and delicious meals, I got help with medical needs I had been neglecting, and staff are helping me find an affordable home for myself and my family. My youngest granddaughter’s name is Hope, and that is what I found at the Stephen Center! To all who give to Stephen Center, I say – You have overwhelmed me! Thank you for caring about me and my family.” – Marcia

Marcia is one of many people at the Stephen Center who experience hardship when life takes an unexpected turn. We come alongside people in crisis, meeting their immediate needs for food and shelter, and helping them navigate their way to housing. Your support helps provide shelter, recovery, and training programs, both during a pandemic and beyond. We thank you for improving the lives of the most vulnerable in our community.
